These days, a confession of Botox Cosmetic in Hollywood is similar to Taylor Swift admitting she is a clingy girlfriend – not really shocking. Sometimes though, when it’s beloved TV personality Kelly Rippa, the public takes notice.
Kelly has always been open and honest about her beauty regime. She is an avid exerciser, who works hard for her toned body. “I work out every day. It’s a part of my life,” she told Good Housekeeping magazine last year. Her favorite workouts include cycling classes and daily morning runs. At the age of 42, the mother of three is candid about the difficulties of maintaining a healthy, attractive body.
Recently, when she was speaking with Elle magazine, Kelly opened up about a very personal beauty secret: she regularly visits her cosmetic surgeon. Every seven months, or whenever her frown line becomes noticeable, Kelly makes the trip in for Botox Cosmetic injections. “Oh, you know when you really need it,” Rippa joked, “It’s when my kids start asking me if I’m mad at them!”
There is more to this former soap star’s Botox injections than just the removal of a few wrinkles. Kelly also suffers from a condition known as Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. 3% of Americans suffer from Hyperhidrosis, in which overactive sweat glands cause extreme perspiration. This can affect the under arms, the face, palms, or even the entire body. While Hyperhidrosis can be humiliating, Kelly shows that there is a solution. Botox Cosmetic is injected directly under the arms, where it essentially blocks the nerve supply in the sweat glands, and reduces sweating for six to twelve months.
Kelly has never been someone to play off her perfect body purely as good genes; she is a very honest and genuine person. It is still refreshing to hear Kelly attribute her amazingly smooth complexion to regular trips to the cosmetic surgeon; it is also encouraging to see her speak about her personal struggles. Real women can identify with Kelly’s challenges. The effects of aging will eventually reach all of us, but she proves there are things that can be done to fight back. Maybe everyone can’t look quite as lovely as Kelly Rippa, but she does give the rest of us hope.
